Ritual Circle is an autobiographical exploration of the beauty and power of absence, loss, formlessness and meditation.

In 2007 I experienced one of life’s more serious passages. Per, my husband of two years, was diagnosed with Glioblastoma Multiforme, a deadly form of brain cancer. We lived and loved in the most profound way for the following months until his passing.

By 2009 I returned to my studio to create my first exhibition in Sweden. I chose the simple form of the circle as a device to describe the ever-changing ritual and cycle of life – a pictorial metaphor to symbolize the real, the mystical and the eternal in the presence of loss, transition and transformation. I focused inward, I watched the emergence of images and listened to the sounds of my drawing as I found inspiration in my breath and possibilities revealed in the shape of my soul and…canvas.
